Gayatri club crowns 74-yr-old

LUDHIANA: At 74, Sudesh Virmani of BRS Nagar knows how to catch the attention of a crowd. Dressed in a bright red 'phulkari' sari, Sudesh sang traditional 'Karva Chauth' songs, coupled with acts on how a wife must respect her husband and parents-in-law at the Gayatri Ladies Club's celebration on Friday. The performance won hearts and she was crowned the 'Karva queen' in above-40 category.
Other members also had a gala time. Chairperson Aruna Gupta said the best part of the celebration was the SMS round in which every participant had to send an SMS to her husband. "The member who received the first reply of 'I love you' was to win the contest and Timsy Talwar turned out the winner,'' said Aruna. Beaming with joy, Timsy said her husband is the best in the world.
